I see my role as a School Board Trustee as ensuring that the district prioritizes success and happiness for ALL students.
Equity:
I want to make sure ALL students, ALL families, and ALL communities are considered and consulted when policy decisions are made. Many of our students – especially those from historically excluded backgrounds and those with special needs – are not being well served in the district. I vow to actively listen to their voices, and bring their issues, needs, and suggestions to the board.
Transparency:
I am committed to doing the time-consuming, detailed work necessary to rebuild trust with the community. This includes asking hard questions and considering all the ramifications, especially regarding the budget and other financial decisions. And I will “show my work” so the community knows how decisions are made, and so I am kept accountable for those decisions.
Collaboration:
We need to strengthen communication – which will build relationships – between caregivers and our exceptional educators, between communities and the administration, and between schools that are on opposite sides of the City. Collaborating from a place of mutual respect and support will lead to an environment where our students can thrive.
